Located in the Mall of the Emirates on Sheikh Zayed Road, Ski Dubai is a remarkable structure that captivates with its grandeur. Built in December 2015 by Majid Al Futtaim Group, renowned for its contributions to the entertainment industry in Dubai, such as the water park and the IFly Dubai skydiving center, Ski Dubai has become a prominent attraction in the city. Designed to offer a skiing experience in Dubai’s desert environment, Ski Dubai has drawn the attention of visitors since its completion.

This impressive facility measures 280 feet in height and 260 feet in width, occupying an area of 22,500 square feet. During construction, a 3,000-ton steel frame was assembled into four temporary towers and lifted using rope jacks. Subsequently, 6,000 tons of artificial snow were used to create an authentic snow-like atmosphere. To simulate skiing at the foot of a mountain, five different slope hills were carefully constructed, allowing visitors to enjoy a genuine skiing experience. A step system was installed on the ground to ensure a balanced surface and prevent potential avalanche hazards. The interior walls of Ski Dubai are covered with thick polyisocyanurate panels to maintain temperature control, while the outer walls are supported by glass-reinforced gypsum panels, harmonizing the cold of the ski resort with Dubai’s desert ambiance.

To address the possibility of snow melting, the ski resort features 100 kilometers of cooling pipes and three ammonia cooling units installed beneath the floor. Additionally, 21 artificial snow machines are employed to continuously refresh the snow, ensuring optimal skiing conditions.

Ski Dubai Activity Areas

Ski Dubai offers a range of exciting activity areas for its guests to enjoy. These areas include:

1. Chairlift: Providing a bird’s-eye view of the snow-covered landscape, the chairlift allows guests to effortlessly reach the peak of Ski Pontoon while enjoying the captivating atmosphere.

2. Zorb Balloon: The Zorb balloon consists of three 3.2-meter diameter balls and is a popular attraction for entertainment enthusiasts. Guests can experience a thrilling descent by rolling down from a height of 30 meters, offering a controlled and exhilarating experience.

3. Mountain Tension: This ice slide stands at an impressive height of 128 meters, providing an exciting and fast-paced ride. No additional equipment is required, and riders can reach speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour.

4. Snow Bullet: The Snow Bullet features two parallel steel ropes that span 150 meters, offering a thrilling zip-lining experience. Guests can enjoy the ride with a partner, as the cable car provides a double seating area.

5. Snow Bumpers: This area brings the classic bumper car concept to the snow environment. Guests can have a fun and bumpy ride in specially designed snow bumper cars, with more than 10 cars available for the snowy terrain of Ski Dubai.

6. Snow Plow Playground: This area is equipped with slides and climbing ropes of varying heights and depths, providing a playful environment for guests to enjoy.

7. Siding Hill: Offering a panoramic view of Ski Dubai, the Siding Hill area allows guests to observe the activity areas from a wide-angle perspective. It provides a top-view area where visitors can take in the sights of Ski Dubai’s expansive landscape.

Ski Dubai General Features

Ski Dubai, also known as the first and only ski resort in the United Arab Emirates, boasts an 85-meter-high mountain equivalent to a 25-story building. Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, the central road in Dubai, the Ski Center symbolizes the evolving face of Dubai with technologies such as special cooling systems and artificial snow production.

The structural features of Ski Dubai are as follows;

• A structure with an “L” shape.
• Temperature ranging from -1 to 2 degrees Celsius throughout the year.
• Five ski slopes of varying difficulty levels.
• Capacity for 1,500 visitors.
• A freestyle zone for skiers to perform tricks at every skill level.

Ski Dubai Transportation Guide

• To reach Ski Dubai, you can use the Redline metro, which is the primary mode of transportation in the city. Simply disembark at the Mall of Emirates station to access the metro.

• Alternatively, you can reach Ski Dubai by taking buses 84, 93, F29, F30, or F33.

Things to Know Before Going to Ski Dubai

• Before visiting Ski Dubai, it is important to plan your activities in advance. Choose the most suitable option for you from the snow park card, Snow Daycation Pass, or Snow Premium packages, and make a reservation accordingly.

• Pets are allowed to enter the ski resort, so you can bring your furry friends along for the experience.

• Please note that outside food and drinks are not permitted inside Ski Dubai. However, you can purchase hot chocolate and snacks at the Café and Ice Café to satisfy your cravings.

• All the necessary ski equipment and clothing are provided by Ski Dubai, so there’s no need to bring your own gear.

• Lastly, smoking is strictly prohibited within the ski resort.
